Thanks to the amount of painkillers and medi-gel in his system, the first thing that occurred to Kaidan when he woke up wasn't that everything hurt - because it didn't - or that it was important to track... someone...? down - which it was, but he couldn't remember properly.
The first thought that went through his head instead was, I'd forgotten how fast salarians talk.
"... ah, as I predicted, the patient is waking," the salarian doctor said, ticking a box on his digital checkboard. "Nothing too bad, minor injuries, just in very unfortunate locations. I would prescribe less head trauma, Commander."
"Ngh," Kaidan replied. "Okay."
