Kaidan switched off his omni-tool.
He reached up and pinched the bridge of his nose for a moment, then blew out a breath and collapsed back onto the sofa. "Okay," he muttered, "That's done."
He'd been putting this off all summer. Frustrated he wasn't able to go out there and be part of the action? Yeah. But he'd known that saying yes would mean leaving his friends here behind, and he hadn't... they'd helped him so much these past two years. He'd kind of felt he'd owed it to them to stick around as long as he could.
But 'as long as he could' ended here. After what Shepard had done... the way the Alliance was starting to get antsy, the letters he'd been getting from Anderson - he couldn't afford to stay here any longer. Not if he had any hope of doing any good.
He... was going to have to tell them. Sooner rather than later. His portal was leaving by the end of the week.
"Shit," he muttered.
He got up off the sofa and went for the kitchen. He needed a drink.
