His omni-tool beeped. Call waiting.
He frowned. Was Sheila trying to phone him back for something? He thought they'd had all of this settled. He swiped his hand over the tool and...
Came face to face with his own parents.
"We wanted to call you yesterday to wish you a happy birthday," his mother said, "But the Alliance had some trouble patching us through. So--"
Kaidan really hoped that whatever parents walked in today did not do so while his mother was singing Happy Birthday to him.
