Kaidan's Room, 33 Apocalypse Ave, Early Wednesday Morning

Kaidan woke up to the loud, pulsing alarm of his omni-tool alerting him to the fact he had a call incoming. He sat up with a groan, checking his head automatically - not sure if the pulse came from out there or in here. But no, not a migraine.

Taking the call did mean nearly falling out of bed and changing that, though.

"Orders just came in," the woman on the other end of the line told him. "Hostage situation in the Hades Gamma cluster."

Kaidan blinked. "I'm not cleared for duty," he said. "What?"

"Admiral Hackett's orders," she said. "Just a one-shot. After this you'll be dropped back off at your quote-unquote 'ridiculous island'. But he says he wants a biotic with balls on this one, sir."

Well. That was a new one. (Maybe Hackett missed Shepard, too.) "What's-- what's going on?" Kaidan said slowly.

"A group of biotic extremists has captured Chairman Burns from the Systems Alliance Parliamentary Subcommittee for Transhuman Studies. They are holding him hostage on board the Ontario, protesting his vote against providing reparations for L2 biotics," she said. "Hackett immediately thought of you. Report to the Alliance portalocity hub ASAP for deployment."

Well. Today was going to be more interesting than ghouls and skeletons...
